The Caterpillar D9 is a large bulldozer that has an excellent reputation as a result of its optimum efficiency and reliability. The machine is particularly versatile, so can be used in a range of applications, such as in forestry, mining and heavy machinery.
Features
The D9 has impressive specifications too. To name just a few, it has an operating weight of up to 48 361kg and 436 horsepower. The alternator is 150-amp and both the batteries and converter are 12-volt.
Safety features
The D9 has a host of features which are designed to maximise the safety of the application. The operator can benefit from a smoother ride as a result of the suspended undercarriage and elevated sprocket which work together to increase traction. The shock is transferred to the mainframe of the vehicle so that its components are prevented from absorbing the impact of the shock. The heavy-duty handles and steps enable the D9 to be accessed securely and there is also a warning system in place to indicate when the seat belt is not fastened, alerting the driver to fasten this before resuming operation.
